Pembrokeshire County Show

PEMBROKESHIRE COUNTY SHOW

A great event where town meets the countryside

This year’s show is jam-packed with great attractions and events. There’s something for everyone!

The Society, led by Chief Executive Jan Pearce, has worked to improve, expand and innovate the three-day county show into a unique summer event. Organisers are formulating a varied and packed programme, with a revised showground layout. The emphasis of the show has always been on agriculture, farming and food while connecting with the rural community.

Some of the headline attractions during the 2018 show were; meeting Joseph’s Amazing Camels, and watching and competing in a fantastic Irish sheaf throwing competition throughout the three days. There was a variety of other attractions and displays, including robotic milking of cows and the feeding of calves, the new-look Valero Countryside Park, farrier demonstrations, classic car displays, a vast array of agricultural machinery and equipment, a skateboarding area, and indoor go-karting.

As ever the animals take centre stage in the rings as they go head-to-head for the top honours. From cattle, pigs, goats and horses to poultry & dog agility competitions, visitors will be able to see some of the country’s finest exhibits. Sheep exhibitors now have their own dedicated area.

The entire show is live and entertaining, culminating in a spectacular grand parade.

Show held: Mid August in Haverfordwest County Showground

Narberth Food Festival

In 2019 Narberth Food Festival will be celebrating it’s 21st birthday of the annual food-lovers’ event. Not only one of the longest-established food festivals in Wales; but also ranked as the friendliest, Narberth Food Festival was back and buzzing on Narberth’s Town Moor this September. With entertainment, guest chefs, workshops, masterclasses and children’s activities added to the mix alongside food, glorious food on over 50 stalls, you can see why Narberth Food Festival is such a great event for foodies, fun-lovers and families alike.

The two-day festival is staged on Narberth’s Town Moor. The festival takes place in a full-boarded marquee with catering stalls, the music stage and the ever-popular licensed bar on the former primary school playground.

The finest food from Pembrokeshire and Welsh producers features high on the offerings from festival stallholders, with old favourites sharing the marquee with some exciting newcomers. Amongst them this year were five start-up businesses being given bursaries by the festival committee to make their debut at the festival, with support from Welsh Government funding. These include Parc y Dderwen, near Llangolman, where Lauren and Phil specialise in fermented foods, which have gained a huge following for their gut-friendly benefits.
